The Global Coalition for Animal Welfare (GCAW) exists to bring together companies from across the food supply chain, from producers to manufacturers, retailers and food service companies to help identify and address barriers to improving animal welfare standards at scale and for the long term.
Membership of the Coalition is open to organisations that share in the coalition’s vision and that are willing to work to achieve its objectives.
Current members of GCAW have significant influence with combined revenues of over US$590 billion. They are: Aramark, Compass Group, Elior Group, IKEA, Maple Leaf Foods, Minerva Foods, Nestle, Nomad Foods, Sodexo, Starbucks, The Cheesecake Factory, The Kroger Co, Tyson Foods, Unilever and 2 Sisters Food Group.
GCAW is convened and managed by an independent Secretariat, Chronos Sustainability Ltd. The Secretariat, in consultation with the members, is responsible for ensuring that the Coalition is well managed and that it conducts its affairs in an honest, transparent and professional manner.
Further, beyond the expertise contributed by its members, GCAW engages with expert advisors, national and international associations, industry bodies and other partners to help inform its work, and regularly invites expert speakers to contribute to the working group discussions. Details of recent contributors to the working group discussions can be found here.
