GCAW holds quarterly All Member Meetings and aims to host at least one of these in-person each year. These provide an opportunity for all members to discuss broad issues and developments in animal welfare, perhaps concerning multiple species or species not covered by specific working groups and set priorities to tackle the most persistent and widespread issues.
In line with these priorities, there are species-specific working groups. Members of these meet six times each year to accelerate progress. In selecting focus areas, coalition members consider areas where i) there are known substantial and current issues and barriers to change; ii) animal welfare issues substantially influence the business of member companies; and iii) where, through collaboration and combined influence, member companies may overcome obstacles to high welfare standards.
There are currently three species-specific working groups:
Laying Hen Welfare Working Group
Broiler Chicken Welfare Working Group
Pig Welfare Working Group
